I did it!!! I won!!!

Finally and finally.... I did it!!! I won Nanowrimo after a months worth of sleepless nights and Write or die filled days, I am the proud owner of a half finished manuscript of 50,011 words.
The story is only half done but I now dream of the day where I can hold a beautiful copy of my baby with my name written on it in my hands.
There is the Will I? Won't I? when I think of doing it through CreateSpace but the legal jargon involved is enough to make my head spin. Something about reselling and shipping and ISBN numbers.
And I would love to publish it through a real publisher and seeing my baby in the book stores, no matter how obscure a corner they may be in. The debate on the NaNoWriMo forums on this topic is intense and I have been led to believe that it is not possible to do it through a real publisher if I do it through CreateSpace.
Involving a real publisher means waiting though, but this is alright by me because I'd like tofinish and butcher my novel, edit it, have it criticized to pieces then make something better out of the pieces.

Pokeshipping

Recently I've been hooked to Pokemon fanfiction and sister dearest says that I cannot fall any lower than that. It is rather surprising since she used to adore the series when it was aired and refused to miss a single episode.
Well, each to their own and pokeshipping rules!!!

That's just sad...

I was looking high and low for the light novels of the Saiunkoku Monogatari series that had been translated into English, since I had already finished with the anime and the manga is on an indefinite hiatus, but no luck.
Instead, I found Baka-Tsuki. It is a dedicated group of fan translators trnslating light novels (or ranoberu) into English. Especially the unlicensed ones.
I am reading Toradora! and plan to read a few more but Haruhi Suzumiya series has been taken off the site. That is just sad. Having heard of nothing but glowing reviews of the series from my sister I wanted to read it.

Me! An actress?!

we had the drama club auditions today and I thought I'd give it a try. Of course as it goes with any and every improvisations that I make, I screwed up terribly. I can only defend myself saying that the girls who I performed with spoke in Gujarathi and I don't know a word of that language.
I was accepted but only because they had a terrible shortage of members. Here's to hoping they can make a better actress out of me.

To Hazareji

I am just a young person, one of those nameless, rebellious young people who wear less clothes and more make-up. I am just a young person. I do not understand. I am hot-headed, naive and believe the world to be good.
I am the fairer sex, the weaker sex. The changing times have granted me an opinion but my age ensures that it has little weight. I am quiet. I am frustrated.
I have to do as everyone does, live as everyone lives, say what everyone says.
I may not understand what you are doing, but I do know that you are doing it for me. Me, my brothers, my sisters. Our time on earth is brief. Yours, even briefer. But still you care, you care enough to change the status quo and for that I thank you. This is no opinion. No, it is an expression. An expression of heartfelt gratitude.
Thank you for giving me the power to say no. Thank you for giving me the power to voice my frustrations. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
From,
Me.

A new houseguest

Atithi devo bhava, goes the famous Sanskrit saying, which means, guests are embodiment of God, but these past few days, none of us are pleased with the newest inmate of our humble abode.
Why you may ask. Well it is for the simple reason that he (or she) has four legs, a tail and plenty of brown fur. Yeah, you guessed right. it is a rat (or a mouse, I can never tell the difference.
Dad is aginst killing it and since he is the only person in our house is remotely equipped to deal with it, he refused to buy the necessary chemicals or pay a professional and purchased (or rather made me purchase) a rat trap and set it up with dried prawns as bait. Still we have had no success trapping that pesky rodent.
Personally I don't mind it staying but my sister is not very fond of creatures smaller than her, be they human or animal, and insists the rat be caught. Fun, isn't it?

Hell Yeah!!!

I stumbmbled across this in somebody's forum sig and I have to agree.
95% of teens would cry if they saw EDWARD CULLEN at the top of a skyscraper about to jump. Put this in your profile if you are part of the 5% that would sit here with popcorn & a camera and yell "DO A FLIP!!!"
oh and btw, my results were great. dad was more overjoyed than me.

Nervous...

Waiting for my results. Terribly nervous. Nothing else to do. Wish me luck? Of course not. Nobody reads this anyway.

NaNoWriMo

I finally figured out what the hullabulloo was and signed myself up fo NaNoWriMo today. Since my internet connection is very, very sick, I still have to change my picture and introduce myself on the site.
Write 50,000 words, huh? Not an easy thing. But perhaps this is the motivation I need for finally confronting a story that has been lurking around my head for quite a while. I have been told that I perform excellently under pressure. Let's hope this works.

Eye for an eye

Recently I read the shocking tale of an Iranian woman who was blinded by a suitor in a fit of rage (I will call it that. My inherent innocence and naivity refuses to let me believe it could have been anything else.) Under Iran's Islamic Law, she could have had him blinded, but chose to let him go. The report did not mention much of anything else, so I have no clue whether she was adequately compensated either by the government or the offender's family or she forgave him out of the goodness of her heart but all I can say is 'Hats off to you, Lady!' (I am terrible at remembering names)
That woman did something that I wouldn't even think of doing if I was placed in a similar situation. While the report did not mention whether the offender will be made to serve jail time, if I had the option of having someone who had done something like that to me, blinded, I would have given the go ahead without hesitation. Even if monetary compensation was involved, I would have refused it. Vision is extremely valuable, especially when its your own and once destroyed it cannot be regained (as of today, who knows where science will take us twenty years down the line?)
I respect that woman and her ability to forgive. Humans, generally being very short-tempered creatures (I can attest to that, being one myself) forgiveness is something not easily given even for minor offenses like putting one's foot in one's mouth (I wonder how it tastes) so forget about the major ones like acid attacks. And if you think about it, she personifies my motto 'Live, love and move on' at least the move on bit.
This woman has done the unthinkable and saved herself a vicious cycle of hate. We can all learn from her example, at least I am going to and try to become a little more forgiving.
That's all from this wanna-be alien for today. Remember, shortness is hotness.

Yo!

My first ever Journal Entry!!!
I feel like I have really reached a milestone in my short technologically challenged life. It has given me wings! And no, before you ask, I am not high on Red Bull.
Living, loving and moving on is my motto and I believe in aliens, espers and time travelers. I worship Ouran High School Host club, read too much manga and have an unhealthy obsession with fanfiction. I look up to strong female characters, whether they are fact or fiction. Some times, male or female doesn't matter either.
My dream is to Kick Ass or become an ambassador for my country and spread my Indian-ness far and wide. Option number two is becoming a chef because that is the closest I'll ever come to mixing potions.
That's all for today.
Live, Love and Move on.
